Bikes against Bush: Using web-enabled bicycles to protest the Republican National Convention
iconThrough wireless Internet connections, these bicycles print text messages via a set of spray-chalk aerosol cans sent to them from the Internet. Online users can send messages to the bicycles in real time, and the cyclists can decide when and where to print them. A webcam mounted on the bike provides a snapshot at the moment of printing. By Joshua Kinberg.
Timeline of al-Qa'ida documents
iconAl-Qa'ida is neither irrational nor unable to intelligently articulate their objectives. The American government is able to disseminate propaganda globally while suppressing al-Qa'ida's response. Thus, the English speaking world is forced to trust the analysis of al-Qa'ida provided by those who have shown themselves willing to lie in their pursuit of an unjust war. If the American public had been able to read al-Qa'ida documents they would have known that al-Qa'ida was explicit about their joy in America's overthrow of Saddam Husayn. By Micah White.

A New Vision

From the editors

What is galeropia?
From within a historical moment of fascist resurgence, which is also a moment of leftist redefinition, we are appropriately taking “galeropia” — the word and concept — from a somewhat old medical term for a rare effect of certain diseases: as the body is destroyed, the vision of the host is enhanced. We mean to stress (somewhat lightly) that the Left is not the anti-Right, not in “resistance” or mere “opposition” to the right but distinct and “positively” different from it while intimately related to it — just as galeropic vision is not in resistance to the disease engendering it but distinct and contrary to it.
On insurgency
We begin Galeropia with insurgency. We chose this theme aware tha the summer months of 2004 would be dominated by the America agenda in Iraq. Although the worldÕs attention would be focused on th insurgents of Iraq we intend this issue to have wider applications. We believ that each piece that weÕve selected addresses the essence of insurgency whethe artistically, practically, or theoretically.
